REVIEW
Intense,heart breaking, love and sacrifice
Final chapter of the dystopian series Divergent. Allegiant is the most intense of the three, it’s a combination of events, feelings, ups and down that will accompany you until the end and leave you with a lump in your throath.
We left Insurgent after Edith Prior’s video was transmitted and the city was in Evelyn’s hand. Tris and his friends decide to left the city and save it from the yoke of Evelyn and the factionless. But what will happen if all of your life has been based on a big lie? What will you do if you suddenly discover that you do not live in the only city remained in the world and that there’s something outside the fence? What will you do if you learn that you and your background are only a grain in comparison to the world?
I don’t want to talk to much about the plot because it’s that kind of book you need to discover by yourself and the one that if you start to say something you spoil all the book without even notice!
I appreciate that it was wirtten from both Tris and Tobias point of view, because sometimes having an only one can influence your thoughts and opinions. Tris is more impulsive and judging, while Tobias is more trustful but even more insecure than Tris.
I love how all the characters had a different evolution that is underlined in the three chapters. Yes I would have loved something more about Peter, Christina and the others, mostly for the feelings, they’re in my opinion deeply interesting.
It has also been deeply frustrating in some parts, mostly because I am a fervent shipper of Tobias and Tris and also because – as always do characters like this – they become your family, the ones you want to read about and ones you want to find finally something good.
You will left Allegiant with many tears, feelings and frustration, but you can have all the answers to your questions at Veronica’s official blog (link below). Even if you read them you sometimes remain frustrated, but I can assure you that if you reach the real point of her decisions you will understand most of the things that happened (even if you will still hate her!).
[SPOILER Oh man, so much tears. Uriah was one of my favourites and it has been difficult not to ending up tearing all the time he was mentioned, I tried at leat! It has been very difficult, but at least as you read the real reason of Tris sacrifice you have a little candle that light up on your insight of feelings and tears. I mean, I cried and I hoped until the last line that she would ended waking up and have her earned life, but it can’t all be fantasy. I think that I appreciate the reality Roth has used in Allegiant. I think that Caleb, Tobias and Christina will have to face the bigger difficulties after the deaths of Tris and Uriah. They will face them and try to remember them as weel as they can, and this thoughts reassure me a bit. ]
